For smaller children, write your phone number in permanent marker on their upper arm or stomach (they have wristbands but I always think that those can tear off). Be sure to write it on a place where it can be covered by their clothes. Also, point out security or staff to let them know that if they do get separated from you that these are people to approach. For older kids, chose a place to meet in case they get separated.

Instead of a purse to lug around, bring a smaller backpack. you can bring a water bottle or two instead of drinking the sugary drinks that are so very tempting, and you can also save some money.

For younger kids, bring a stroller. The stroller can hold your backpack, plus it gives them a place to sit instead of you having to hold them when they get tired.

Bring cash. Some of the vendors do not take debit/credit cards.

Pack an emergency kit, such as Band-Aids, sunscreen, Tylenol and other medication that kids might need.

Don't forget wet wipes and hand sanitizer, Especially at the fair where messy food and delicious treats are guaranteed to be enjoyed. I usually put a pile in a Ziploc bag for easy storage.

Extra bag(s)! If your child is anything like mine, they will likely talk you into playing one of the games or going into the Hall of Industry and getting all kinds of free stuff from the vendors. Bring one or more of the lightweight cloth or plastic sling bags so the children can carry their own stuff around.
